Art

K-8 Art at Chesterfield School cultivates creativity, innovation, independence, and technical skills in a variety of media, both 2D and 3D. Lessons are structured thematically and teach the Elements and Principles of Art and Design which connect to the National Art Standards of Create, Respond, Connect, and Present. Each year, students build upon skills learned in previous years to create more complex projects.

Like Elementary art, Middle School art encourages individuality and teaches fundamental skills of art and design. Students have more choice in their assignments and subject matter and are taught how to take a concept and see it through all stages of completion. Middle school students are also taught to use the pottery wheel to create functional pieces of art.

The Chesterfield School Art department is run by Melanie Fedorowicz.
